Summer hiatus.

September 2, 2014

Welp, our first summer in the Big Apple has officially come and [almost] gone. Despite everyone’s opinion that this has been a “mild summer” by New York standards, Adam and I have mostly found the humidity to be oppressive and the overall temperature to be too damn hot. Putting my ass in the sand at Zuma Beach has really never sounded as good as it does today.

That being said, we always celebrate Labor Day Weekend with a little getaway for our anniversary. Initially we were going to cancel the trip this year since we’re going broke paying for the epic honeymoon we’re planning. But, then we realized this is our last August 31 anniversary (WHAT?!), we’ve made it 5 whole years without killing each other and we still like one another (most of the time) + want to get married… if that’s not something to celebrate I really don’t know what is. So we snuck out of the city Friday afternoon and made our way to Peekskill, New York. Admittedly, it was a pretty random location, but it was just a 50 minute train ride on Metro North and we rented a whole house for basically less than getting dinner out in the city…

We spent the weekend sleeping, eating (obviously), kayaking, exploring, and of course, celebrating (with more eating). Sort of insane to think summer is over, but that means we can stop effing around and start preparing for Christmas. Get at me, holidays.
